Broken
Heart throbbing
Pulse racing
Fear building
I pace.
Thinking of words exchanged I unravel.
Tears rolling
Eyes straining
Body curling
I freeze.
Tick. Tock. Tick Tock. Tick Tock.
Day awakening
Floor boards creaking
Door opening
I beg.
Eyes gleaming
Body shifting
Temper rising
You dismiss.
“Deal with the consequences of your actions" you say, never stopping to look behind.
Frozen in time,
I open my suitcases.
One by one,
I gather my things.
“You can do it” says Jasmine.
“I can do it” I recite.
I feel so alone.
Clink
Clonk
Bump
Thud
My body takes over.
Closing the front door, I leave.
I paced.
I froze.
I begged.
You dismissed.
Alone, I left broken.
Hoping one day to let go and never look behind.
